Landscape at The Post

Communita provided site planning and landscape design for the welcome center at Tehaleh. We worked closely with the consultant team to develop the circulation, view lines, and locations for a ‘warming hut’ and trailhead. The design for the north side of the site provides a gathering space that seamlessly extends the building’s interior into the forest while displaying native flora in an education garden, dry creek bed, and rain gardens. The south facing slope at the main entrance to the building highlights the view of Mount Rainier and maximizes opportunities for large gatherings with a sunny terrace, fireplace, and cafe seating. Communita also designed the landmark sculpture set into the grass and wildflower meadow along with the interpretive signage at the trailhead.
