Our firm provided streetscape and open space design for a new student residence hall located at the north end of the Seattle Pacific University campus. A series of low walls along the site’s west edge integrates the building with the existing topography, while taking advantage of the southern exposure to create open light wells at the lower level dorm units. An entry court provides a gracious sense of arrival and a visual terminus for one of the primary north-south pedestrian routes. Pedestrian safety was enhanced at the intersection with a realignment of curbs to reduce crossing distances. An extension of the special paving and landscape treatment across the street visually connects the new hall with the existing campus pedestrian corridor.
